What’s eyebrow lamination?!
I will never grow tired of trying new beauty treatments and sharing them with you all. Today we’re talking brow lamination!
What is brow lamination?! Brow lamination helps to shape your brows and give fullness. The treatment is similar to microblading and helps to eliminate the use of brow products. I shared the whole process on my Instagram Stories and I have it all saved to a highlight called “brows”.
Essentially, you’re perming your eyebrows with brow lamination. I know the first thing that comes to mind when the word perm is used is curly hair. On the brows it’s used to straighten the brows in an upward motion. The perm solution helps to freeze the hairs in place.
The process of brow lamination is all of 30 minutes. Here’s the break down of the service.
- Brows are cleaned leaving a clean surface to work on.
- Brows are brushed upwards with a spoolie brush and then coated with a layer of brow glue to hold them in place.
- The perming solution is applied in an upward motion
- Saran wrap or a plastic wrap is then placed on top of the brows to sit for 8-10 minutes.
- Apply setting solution on the brows and a new saran wrap will be placed on top for another 8-10 minutes.
- Brows are groomed to preference & tinted if needed.
I have two pictures below that show my brow transformation. Again, if you want to see more of the process be sure to head to my Instagram and check out the ‘brows’ highlight. I have EVERYTHING saved there.
I ended up getting my brows waxed and tinted on top of the lamination. I was in desperate need of a wax so that was a given thing. I also tried brow tinting for the first time. I can’t say I loved the brow tinting. It did end up looking darker than I wanted and I had my girl remove some of the color to lighten it up. I think if I were to tint again I would go with an even lighter shade. I will say that the tint was wonderful when it came to shading in my brows with my brow pencil. Yes, this service as a whole is supposed to help eliminate the need of brow products but my hair is very sparse towards the beginning and I just needed some help making it full.
What are my thoughts on lamination?! I think this service is genius. As someone who wants to get their brows microbladed, this is a wonderful alternative. I don’t have to worry about this process being permanent or costing me $500+ in the off chance that I’m not happy with it. I do see myself getting lamination again. It was a fast service and something I could easily keep up with every 4-6 weeks. This next time I will try to do the lamination without the tinting to see what I prefer. I will report back here when I do that.
QUESTIONS&ANSWERS
Q: How much does this service cost?
A: I can’t give an exact rate because it’ll be different per salon. Mine cost around $65. That did not include the brow wax or tint.
Q: Could I have an allergic reaction to this?
A: If you have sensitive skin and are prone to irritation, ask or a patch test. Any professional will be more than happy to make sure you’re comfortable.
Q: How long does the lamination last?
A: The lamination will last anywhere from 4-6 weeks. It’s not a permanent treatment.
Q: Is it recommend to get a brow wax with the lamination?
A: I would highly recommend getting a brow wax with the lamination. Not getting one is like only getting half a haircut.
Q: Do I have to get my brows tinted if I get a lamination?
A: Nope! This additional service is entirely up to you. The whole point of the lamination is to give a fuller look and there are so many little brow hairs that we don’t see due to the lack of color pigment within the strand. Brow lamination gives the look of microblading, which is essentially a service that adds extra hair for fullness. Might as well try it once to see if you’ll like it.
Q: Can I still fill in my brows with lamination?
A: Yes! Treat your brows the same as you always would. Lamination helps to reduce the use of brow products so you might notice you don’t need to use as much!
