Welcome to the world, Chloe.
Chloe Louise Raymer was born June 16th at 10:29am weighing 7lbs 8oz and measuirng 19 3/4in long. She has the most perfect little round face and the longest fingers and toes. We are so so so so so in love with her little self.
I have never written a birth story, so forgive me if it’s not what you’re expecting but I really love reading them and because we were in such shock of how quickly everything went down, I figured it would make for a fun story!!
Okay…so she really wasn’t that early, but she was 10 days early. She was due June 26th and we had plans on getting induced June 19th. There’s a lot that I haven’t shared via social media because pregnancy is such a private and beautiful thing to experience (despite how much I have said I’m not a huge fun of it..a woman’s body does crazy things). However, I have had so many problems (most were minor but I was required to get so many dang tests done) through the whole pregnancy that we were very eager and ready to have her the 19th. We would’ve wanted her here sooner if we had the option to ease our minds, but as all babies do, they have a wild mind of their own 🙂
I would say for the whole week prior to June 16th I was having really bad contractions throughout the day. So bad that I would have to stop and let myself catch my breath or I’d have to sit down. However, I was getting them once every few hours so it wasn’t enough for anything to really happen. I was also dilated to a three for over a week so I knew she wasn’t budging. The contractions were worse in the mornings and especially the mornings I would drive to work (my drive is a 40 minute drive so you bet I would map my delivery plan out during the drive just in case haha). Everyone had a feeling she was coming early and I was honestly just taking it day by day.
A few days before the 16th I started noticing that I was either leaking some fluid or peeing myself. I also had this happen with Laken and after going in only to be told I was peeing myself I really didn’t want to feel silly and go in again. I really didn’t think anything of it/I didn’t want to freak myself out with the ‘what ifs’ so I ignored it as much as I could.
The Saturday before baby was born we had a full day of plans in Topeka, Kansas with family. I woke up having contractions. I had a few contractions during the drive (which by the way…driving while having contractions is hell) and then didn’t have any more until later that evening. Kyler then met up with me and his whole family for a Father’s Day celebration. Right before we had dinner it hit me that something felt off. I don’t like drawing attention to myself so I would walk off to be alone and his family was definitely catching on when I would do that haha. I was texting Kyler the last hour we were there and making faces at him as a warning that something was going down and be prepared to leave. At this point it was almost 8pm and I told Kyler that we were leaving now. If you know me you know that when I’m in a hurry I don’t like being talked to or touched and get really stressed out when I have to wait any longer than I have to. Of course that’s the time that everyone is catching on that I’m leaving and have to hug me and strike up a conversation haha.
By now it’s 8:40 ish. I walked through the door and ran to get in the shower to wash my hair and when I got out I franticly started cleaning the house. My contractions were every 7-10 minutes and in the slight chance that this was it, I wanted to make sure that I would be coming home to a clean home and have freshly washed hair haha. Kyler being who he is, is as calm as ever and takes a shower and tells me how he’s going to play video games for a little bit. It’s now 9:15pm and I’m making sure we have everything for our hospital bags packed and I’m having contractions every 5-7 minutes. I started noticing that I was either really losing control of my bladder and peeing myself or some serious leakage was happening down there. It was so bad that I was starting to genuinely get concerned. I have never had my water break so I don’t really know the feeling but the second I started feeling all that fluid my contractions immediately went to 3-5 minutes apart so I called the doctor.
10:15pm We have the whole fam with us as we’re in the hospital and I get checked and told that I’m only a three…… I got the fluid tested to make sure that it wasn’t anything serious. My contractions were full force every 1-2 minutes I was hoping with everything in me that it was fluid so they wouldn’t make me go home. Welp, I had ruptured and was leaking so they had to keep me.
Kyler was the biggest trooper during all this because he had been up for over 24 hours at this point and was beyond exhausted. Before I could get the epidural I had to show that I was progressing so we walked up and down the halls for a good hour. Poor Kyler was doing everything in him to not fall over and fall asleep so we went back to the room and he passed out immediately. I on the other hand was having some of the worst back contractions that lasted about 40 seconds each. It was about 2am at this point and we were waiting for my epidural. Of course those last 20 minutes of us waiting was when my contractions got the worst and I was in so much pain all I could do was cry. Not only were they in my back but also in the front and shooting down my legs. I have never experienced a pain quite like that and I truly don’t ever want to experience that again. Thank goodness for epidurals because from then on I was perfectly fine haha.
Fast forward to about twelve hours later at 10:29 am… and our baby girl was out in about 10 pushes. Our hospital recommended an hour of skin to skin and to immediately attempt to nurse before any visitors came in the room and I loved that for Kyler and I. We got a lot of alone time with Chloe fresh in the world and got to admire her before it got too chaotic. Kyler brought Laken in so it was just the four of us and it was probably one of the best moments.
We are in heaven with having Chloe and our family certainly feels complete. Laken and Chloe are all we need and we can’t wait to watch them grow! Enjoy our photos 🙂
Thank you all for the love and sweet messages about Chloe’s arrival and thank you all for allowing me to spam you all with baby photos.
