Wedding guest styling + 10 things I’d do different on my registry
I originally wanted to do a whole wedding series and touch base on all the fun things but there are so many other people more skilled in this so just do a quick Pinterest search to find what you’re looking for. Haha. Instead I’ll do a little dress round up of dresses that I’ve been eying and then 10 things that I really wish I would’ve had on my wedding registry if I could go back and re-do it all.
This is the first wedding season I’ve actually attended weddings in a couple years. I have a new found mom bod to dress and I’m really drawn to baby doll style dresses! However, I love the fitted silky little number too. Florals have been so much fun to see and I love the pastels and little ruffles. I’m sharing a ton of dress styles all under $70 and there are so many affordable options. I also have a small selection of neutral shoes and a few cross body bags that I think are darling. You can shop my exact fit below!
10 things I wish I had done differently on my wedding registry
Kyler and I have been married for almost 5 years and we are not same people we were five years ago. Our style has totally evolved, and we both wish we had done it differently. The excitement of adding everything to your registry is so much fun and we totally got scanner happy. It’s so easy to do and that would explain why we have 12 casserole dishes that we’ve used once haha. Here’s a list of things I wish I would have done differently!
- dish sets – you know that fun serving set that you register for at Bed Bath & Beyond that comes with a mug, bowl, salad plate, and dinner plate? I wish we never registered for the matching sets. I love our dishes so I’m so happy we went with the ones we did, but they no longer sell our style of dishes. We have already had to toss one out due to a crack and I cannot find it so I now have a set of 7 plates, instead of 8. We also sold all of our matching mugs a couple years back. They were too small for our liking and we actually enjoy finding fun mugs. We also will never have 8 people over at once to enjoy coffee at the same time so we are totally okay with getting rid of them haha.
- serving platters – When we got married, I for sure thought our style was farm house. I literally registered for every single farm house style serving platter/serving display they made. I don’t love them and really wish I did. Of course I’ll use them but I have seen so many cute serving platters that fit our style more now.
- luggage – I wish we would have registered for a luggage set. Even if its not something that we would use all the time it’s still something that I would have loved to have.
- bigger sized appliances – What we didn’t take into consideration was that we were going to have a bigger family and would have friends over a lot and I wish we would have registered for bigger sizes in all our appliances. We really push the limit on what our crock pots can hold.
- power tools – Kyler and I literally kick ourselves for not registering at Home Depot and asking for basics. Had I known what we(mainly myself) would be doing nearly 5 years later this would’ve been on the top of my list because we would use the absolute heck out of all the.
- Towels – I loved being gifted towels but it wasn’t something we originally registered for. I’m so thankful for the family and friends that did gift us them but none of them match so that bothers me at times.
- cooler/outdoor items – one of the first purchases we made after marriage was a cooler and I wish we would have registered for a nice one that we could continue to use. Ice packs, a picnic basket and travel food storage containers would have been very nice to have. Grilling accessories would have been a really good one to have too.
- steamer – I haven’t ironed a thing my whole life and I’m not sure what got in to me that I had to register for an iron!!! A year later we ditched the iron and purchased a hand held steamer. Wow, we have used the actual heck out of this one.
- Kitchen Aid mixer attachments – I use my Kitchen Aid mixer for everything. I keep it out on the counter and use a couple times a week. Again, had we known what life would be like 5 years later the attachments would have been so nice to have! We have a purchased a few since being married but there are so many that we look at and think how nice it would be to have.
- cook books – wow I love reading cookbooks and I have had so much fun finding them! The funny thing with registering for so many kitchen items is that neither of us enjoyed cooking so it was like we were just registering to register. We’ve purchased a lot of cookbooks on our own over the last few years so it’s been fine but it would’ve been fun to think of that family member/friend every time we opened them!
