Sunflower Fields
Fall and winter is my absolute favorite time of the year! There’s always so much more to do and I love being able to go outside and not have to deal with the heat! This past weekend we went to Grinter’s Sunflower Farm in our little town, Lawrence. It’s become a little bit of a tradition since we started our family! My whole life I’ve lived in Kansas but had never visited a sunflower field until last year(2016)! A part of me really wishes I would have taken full advantage of all the picture opportunities (it didn’t happen unless you took a picture & posted it, right? haha), but I’m really glad I didn’t.
Our first time ever going to a sunflower field was when Laken was 4 days old. I was itching to get out of the house to interact with other humans and Kyler just wanted to show off his little girl! She was SOOO tiny last year and doing a side by side picture comparison is so bittersweet! Where did my baby go?!
It was so much fun watching her interact with the sunflowers! She didn’t really know what to think of everything and at times would get so excited all she could do was squeal (first picture down below)! The sunflowers were quite a bit shorter this year than what I can remember from last year and that worked very well in our favor. Laken was able to touch them and look at all the bugs real close. Kyler tried his best at getting some photos of us girls, but Laken has been on a kick of only wanting daddy so I got some pretty cute shots of those two crazies together! Laken has so much personality that it’s always a blast taking her anywhere. We got lucky that she wasn’t in a funk or didn’t want to cooperate during these! I can’t wait for the rest of the fun memories we’ll make this season <3
What are some of your favorite family traditions?
