my skincare routine
I absolutely love my skin care routine so I am very excited to share it with you all! My morning and night time routine are very similar to one another but I do leave some products out in the morning. I ended up deciding to break this skin care post up by talking about all the products I use and then I will do a separate post all about the skin care appliances I use! I could have added them into this as well but I really wanted to go in-depth of why I use the tools and the benefits of them!
I do realize that a lot of the products that I use are fairly pricey but I consider my skin an investment. I’m not at all opposed to botox to help with my main problem areas, but I am trying my best to prolong my time needing botox! I have come a long way in my skin care routine. It’s taken many years to figure what works for me and to actually notice a change. Right now I have fairly normal skin. I would consider my routine to be more for anti aging. I am 23 and struggle a little bit still with hormonal acne but have it really under control. I don’t get over oily or super dry and I’m very thankful for that but my skin wasn’t always like this. My skin used to be extremely oily and I had terrible cystic acne and was actually put on Accutane for it my freshman year of high school for about 8 months because of it. I know that is a very intense treatment but I had literally tried everything there was to help prevent acne and nothing was helping. I had a wonderful experience with Accutane and I recommend looking into it if you struggle with acne.
Right now I want my skin to be glowing 24/7 and I want to look 12. It’s not like I’m asking for much here haha. I love glowing skin. Getting compliments on your bare face is AMAZING!!
Nurse Jamie – uplift facial massaging beauty roller
What is this purple thing?! It’s amazing is what it is! Facial beauty rollers take skin care to the next level. I use mine every night after I have applied my moisturizer and serum and as well in the morning right when I wake up on my bare skin. I can’t say that I use it religiously but I’ve used it enough to notice a difference in my neck and in my face! My big problem area is my forehead because I’m always raising my eyebrows. I’ve been using this roller on my forehead morning and night and have noticed that my wrinkles aren’t as deep as what they were. There a ton out there but I chose this one based on the review and how many bloggers/beauty gurus I saw using it. The bumps on this roller are to help mimic a facial and all the massaging techniques. I’ve read many places that these rollers also help push the toxins out of our skin.
Murad – Acne Face Wash
I have used this face wash for years and I do use it twice a day religiously. Salicylic acid fights bacteria immediately on the skin and continues to fight throughout the day. If I skip one wash I notice a difference immediately. From the past and using so many acne products I did notice a lot that didn’t have a pleasant smell and the Murad one smells like a sprite to me lol. It’s very clean and refreshing and I should also mention that after washing my skin doesn’t feel dry and tight.
Peter Thomas Roth – Water Drench Serum
A little fun fact if you didn’t know…most serums are water based and the reason for that is so your skin and soak up all the moisture and good better and faster! This serum is my absolute favorite. I’m actually really picky when it comes to serums and can’t tell you how many I have gone through to find one I genuinely like. My skin type is super normal and I’ll take moisture anytime I can. This serum literally feels like you got splashed with a cup cold water and it feels amazing.
Dr. Dennis Gross – Ferulic Acid + Retinol brightening solution
I use this after my serum and I use it every single night. With my job I’m very fortunate enough to be able to attend skin care classes and if there is anything that I’ve taken from all these classes it’s that retinol is a must!! retinol help to retexture skin and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. In this product it also helps to add a glow, which happens to be my favorite part!
Sephora Collection – micellar cleansing water & milk
This is on sale right now for $4!!! I truly never got into the whole micellar water phase but I got a sample of it somewhere and realized how amazing it is at getting off liquid lipsticks! I do not use this product on the daily as I truly hate the feel of it but it sure comes in handy when I’m wearing lipstick! lol.
Rodial – dragon’s blood hyaluronic tonic
This in many other skin care lines can be known as a vitamin C spray or a hydrating mist. I really love the Rodial line itself (probably because Victoria Beckham uses it and she’s absolutely flawless) and will get from their line what I can. I really like the smell of this spray and I honestly spray it on my skin all throughout the day because it is so refreshing.
Murad – eye lift firming treatment
Very seldom do I use anything for the eye. My eyes are super sensitive and usually get really puffy. I’ll admit that I don’t use this product correctly but I love the results from it. Instead of the two pumps it asks for, I’ll take a pea sized amount and dab it under my eyes and also on my brow bone.
Dr. Dennis Gross – extra strength daily peel pads
I have been using these every day over almost a year now. I am seriously obsessed with these peel pads. I mentioned them in my Beach Worthy Beauty Favorites post and rave about them to literally everyone I can. If I had to live off of one skin care product the rest of my life, this would be it. I at first was using these every single night and now am using them every other night. I have been using these peel pads for so long that my skin freaks out when I don’t use them.
First Aid Beauty – facial radiance pads
These pads are super similar to the Dr Dennis Gross Pads I mentioned above but at a way lower price. I use them on my chest and the back of my shoulders to help prevent any breakouts. These are also really good if you have super sensitive skin.
Dr. Dennis Gross – ferulic +retinol anti-aging moisturizer
This moisturizer is heavenly!! For the longest time I was pushing off buying this product due to the price but I am so glad that I decided to go for it. I’ve now gone through two whole containers and don’t see myself changing to any other line.
Origins – clear improvements mask
I do this mask about once a week and I usually do it in the morning on a day that I know I’m not going to be doing anything the whole morning. Again, because I do have some acne this really helps to keep it to a minimum.
Kate Somerville – ExfoliKate
This has been my go to exfoliator for a while now. I usually buy the big tube because it lasts me so long and I do it about once a week! The exfoliating beads in it are super fine and really get deep into your pores. This is the regular one but there is also a more gentle option available at select stores!
