Putting together the perfect gift basket with Gordmans
One of my favorites gifts to give during the Holiday season are gift baskets! I have so many sweet friends and family in my life that deserve the world and it’s hard finding one item for someone that deserve that much! I really like being able to customize what I can give to make things more personal and gift baskets seem to be the way to go!
Gordmans reached out to me to share with you all how to create the perfect gift basket and I seriously can’t even begin to tell you all how excited I am for this. I narrowed down my basket choices to three. One for her, one for him, and one for a pup! Gordmans had literally everything when it came to picking out all my goodies. I’m always really impressed with a store has such a wide variety of holiday items and Gordmans totally nailed it! I was also able to stay within a budget for each basket which was really nice.
So, before even deciding what to put in the baskets I try to think of a theme for it. I almost always go for a relaxing ‘treat your self’ type of basket because it’s the most fun to put together! From there I go for a base item that I know will be used. There isn’t one person that I know that will complain about getting an actual basket, and in this case I always chose a basket that is practical and can be used in multiple spaces. For the gift basket for her I went with a modern/farmhouse wire basket that would look good holding towels in a bathroom or great holding a decorative blanket in a bedroom. For him I went with a wood crate. When my husband saw it he immediately said, “Hey I can store some liquor bottles in this on that shelf downstairs!”, which is exactly what I love to hear because I know it’ll get good use.
The next step is adding that base layer of the basket. This part is usually where tissue paper is added and I prefer to not use tissue paper and extra add-ins with gift baskets because I truly want it to be 100% useful. My go-to for this is always a plush blanket – which by the way, Gordmans has a huge selection of throw blankets for $10-$20 and they are so freaking soft!! For the basket for her I went with that plush blanket and again picked a color that I knew could be used in any room of the house. For him I went a different direction and went with a fleece robe. Again, that was a major hit with my husband so I can only imagine how other men would like it.
After the basket and the base, it’s time to fill the baskets up! The basket for her was the easiest to put together because I thought of things that I would love to be given in a basket, and that is for sure relaxing items and chocolate haha. This skillet cookie mix was actually the very first item I saw when walking into the store and I had to have it. I also added some hot chocolate stir treats, a larger box of chocolates, a large candle, a picture frame, and a really pretty decorative mirror that sits itself up!
For the basket for him I went with more fun and relaxing contents. I also thought of things my husband would like. The first item I grabbed for this basket was actually the cocktail party game. From there I picked out slippers, a phone charger, a football trivia book, a screwdriver, and then I added some chocolate and gum in there for the sweets!
This next basket is my favorite because we’re actually going to be donating everything to the nearest shelter to us to help brighten up some pups day! I’ve always wanted to do something like this and our daughter is now at the age where she will understand that she’s giving this to help I think it will make it that much more special! This whole ‘basket’ was around $40 and I was pretty impressed that was all it was with the quality of the bed and toys. I also picked out some bath towels that I know are always needed in shelters to help clean! I think from hear on out every year we’re going to go to Gordmans and make a pet basket to donate.
