. . .
So, this week I had my two appointments with AesthetiCare Medspa! I ended up getting a Hydra Facial MD on Monday and my Dysport on Wednesday! I have so much to tell you all and am super excited so I’m just going to jump into the post! If you haven’t yet, I totally recommend reading My Botox experience – The consultation before reading this post. Of course you don’t have to, but I have a lot more background information in that talking about why I’m doing Dysport over Botox and a lot of other really cool info.
I want to start off with talking bout the Hydra Facial MD. It was a super quick 30-45ish minute facial that covered everything. The last facial I’ve had was almost seven years ago and I will never wait that long again. There is nothing quite as relaxing as getting your face rubbed haha.
The Hydra Facial MD was everything and more. My face was so plump and glowing like crazy afterwards. I strive for that look every single day. I think coolest thing I learned with the facial was that our dead skin cell turnover is about 28 days, while a child’s is every 4 days. I never realized how much more dull our skin got as we aged! The HydraFacial MD is a gentle resurfacing procedure that removes dead skin cells and impurities while simultaneously infusing the new skin with cleansing, hydrating and moisturizing solutions. This treatment is good for all skin types and can be customized to address your specific skin needs. This facial has no downtime which means it leaves your skin brighter and softer asap. That part is absolutely my favorite because you’d be surprised how many facials take days to finally having you noticing a difference (secretly I think that is what has kept me from getting facials. I’m super impatient and hate waiting, especially with my skin.).
This solution is a mixture of water and my dead skin. The solution before my service was clear and the murkiness is from all the dirt, dead skin, and impurities that was sucked off during the facial. You can’t really tell a whole lot from the photo but you can actually see all the dead skin in the solution. Sorry if that’s gross haha.
Here is a little more about the HydraFacial MD:
- Benefits – Immediate visible results. A complexion that glows.
- What it treats – Dull, aged, damaged and breakout prone skin.
- What it’s great for – Fine lines and wrinkles, age reversal, brightening, oil/congested, and sensitive skin.
Did I reschedule?!
ABSOLUTELY!!!! I’ve mentioned it briefly, but I have never had acne and blackheads as sever as I do now. The worst of the blackheads is that I can’t do anything to extract them. My pores are so small and tight that I physically can’t get anything out. Those literally came out of nowhere and I was really shocked by how much the facial made a difference. I plan on going every 6 weeks and depending on how well my skin takes to the facials all depends on how long I do them. I’m also a huge skincare freak and am all about prevention so anything I can do to prevent my face from further aging, I will do haha.
This is the before photo. You can really see those fine lines that I’ve been talking about more in the second photo.
Now to talk about the Dysport. I am so excited to see the results from this. I took a few before pictures and I will be doing a final before and after reveal in a separate post. If you are curious about what I got done, head over to my Instagram (linked here) and in my highlights look for “Dysport”. I have some live video footage and Melody (who did my dysport) talks a little about what she’s doing.
I’m not afraid of needles and didn’t think much of it at all to be honest. I was very excited. I knew what was going to be happening and I felt comfortable (which is a super big deal if you’re getting something as serious as injections). A lot of questions I had were answered by Stephanie during my consultation but I also asked Melody a lot before and after the service. I asked how she was able to determine the amount of units someone would need and placement. She said the amount of units all depended on how bad the lines are/what the end goal is and that placement depended on where the lines lay. She said it also depended on what area was being treated and how strong the muscle in that area is. I always thought that because my forehead was a bigger area that it would require more units and I was very wrong. If you watch the video, you can tell that she gave me more of a zig-zap pattern because my lines were fairly straight across and our goal was to get rid of them entirely. That whole part of learning was really cool.
After I posted the videos I was asked two major questions: did it hurt and do I already notice a difference. It didn’t hurt at all. Of the eight units I got I maybe felt one of them and it was the smallest prick. The needle itself was very small. I didn’t bleed after and you couldn’t even tell that I got injections. The only ‘pain’ was a slight headache afterwards and I was warned that there’s a chance that could happen after my first few times but it was nothing a little ibuprofen couldn’t fix. I noticed nothing after and that is normal. Melody said that some will say they notice a difference the next day but it usually takes up to 14 days for the Dysport to fully be set in place. I can say the next day I felt a little more resistance in my forehead when trying to raise my eyebrows but I still had the lines. Fast forward to today(three days later), and I can see parts of my lines gone when relaxed. I still have total movement of my face. I also want to add that I heard multiple things from different people of what I couldn’t do directly after and all I was told was to not wear a hat, not to lay directly on my face, and to not rub the area of where the injections were for the next four hours. Very easy to follow.
Did I reschedule?
Yes, I did! In two weeks I have a follow-up appointment to take more pictures and to discuss if I need more. For first timers a two-week is recommended so you can touch base on your overall thoughts and to make sure the Dypsort/Botox is doing what you want it to. I’ve mentioned this many of times but getting Botox/Dysport was something I’ve been looking into for a while and it’s something I want to continue. I rescheduled 90 days out for my next apt and will probably stretch the time in-between the longer I get this done. All the girls in the office said that they use way less units now than when they first started just by being consistent. I’m hoping that will also be the case for me since I am starting Dysport at such a young age.
I know a lot of people don’t agree with spending a lot of money on skincare or on their skin and that is okay. Our skin is the largest organ on our body and to me it only makes sense to take care of it. I personally don’t mind investing in my skin, especially my face. It’s honestly the best compliment when someone notices your skin!
*These services were gifted to me by AesthetiCare Medspa, and as always, all words are my own.
