looped side pony
The amount of DM’s I got on this Instagram post asking for a tutorial over this hairstyle was crazy!! So, here you go! I truly do not know what to call it because technically it’s not a braid…but more of ponytail with a few loops & a twist. In this case it truly is SO much easier done than said because I’m terrible at explaining things, but I am going to be doing my absolute best explaining what I did. I do think this look works best if you have longer hair or have extensions but if you have layers you can easily run a styling cream over the ends! I’ve listed a few of my favorite styling creams below for you!
1. So I start out with bringing all of my hair to the side of head that has the most hair. I also have the first elastic up pretty high & pulled fairly tight. Keep in mind you want as much hair as possible in the pony, but you still want it to be comfortable! It doesn’t really matter what color of elastic is used but if you think something may come apart throughout the day then I would stick to clear!
2. I think wrapping hair around the elastic makes the end look super elegant & far more appealing but if that doesn’t bother you than you can skip this step! I will grab hair from the back of the pony & wrap it around the clear elastic until I can’t wrap it anymore & will either tuck the ends into the elastic or I’ll pin the hair inside the pony with a bobby pin.
Your hair should look like this at this point.
3. This is where the loop comes in that gives the twisted look! Separate the section above the pony with the clear elastic we just made, put your fingers through that opening & pull the ponytail through! It is that easy!!!
Your hair should look like this.
If you put your fingers through the back of the hole & pulled through your hair will still look like this but backwards! Either way is perfect & will work just fine. For more added texture feel free to ‘pancake’ the hair out to give it a more full look.
4. Now is where you’ll repeat steps 1-3 until you can no longer fit another one in! I’m only able to do three & am so jealous if you’re able to fit more because I love this look!
Here is what the finished product looks like & it’ll definitely be an eye catcher! I love that it can dress up an outfit but also totally tone it down without any extra effort!
I can’t wait to have you all give this a try!
