Laken’s Pink Birthday Party
Laken is turning three!!!! September 1st is her actual birthday but we got to celebrate a little early! The last two years I got away with birthday themes I didn’t have to think a whole lot about. This year I asked Laken what kind of birthday she wanted thinking she’d say Frozen or Trolls and she said Pink!
So a pink birthday we did!
This was by far the most fun I’ve had because Laken helped me pick out all the goodies and even helped put everything up! I think I spent around $30 for all the decor which was honestly my favorite part because parties can get super expensive. I don’t have nearly as many photos as I would like to share with you all because there was something wrong with my camera and everything was extremely blurry but we had a fun time and that’s all that matters. Also, why this post will be super short but that’s okay!
First off, Laken’s Birthday outfit. She picked this out all on her own. Me being me, we had to pick last minute and I showed her a few options of dresses/ jumpsuits/tutus I could find in her size and this is the one she chose. This outfit couldn’t be more Laken
You can find the iLovePlum tutu here. She’s wearing a 4t.
There are so many directions you can take the decor when having a pink party and we opted for a giant balloon arch as our main focus. Like I’ve said a million times before, we don’t have a whole lot of space to work worth that we could decorate so we used the only blank wall we had haha.
I got these balloons on Amazon and this air pump to blow them up. I see us having a lot of balloons in our future so we made the investment on the air pump. It’s under $20 so it wasn’t a big purchase but it plugs into the wall and is SO easy to use. My sister actually put the panner together and it took her about 20 minutes from start to finish! The big 3 was a must and you can find that here.
Since we’re still doing family only birthday parties and haven’t quite ventured out to inviting friends, we really only made the dessert table the big focus. I imagine myself having the table be the actual focus in the future.
Again, sticking with the pink theme I tried to think of a fun way to display the desserts. Right away I knew I wanted super cute custom cookies. I reached out to @jendoe on Instagram and told her to have fun! All her work is beautiful and I love how they turned out! Just to give an idea of how amazing these cookies are, I picked them up on Friday and put them in the fridge until Sunday morning and when they got eaten that afternoon they were still ridiculously soft. If you’re local and need some party cookies, Jenny is your gal!
Kyler isn’t a huge sweets person but loves candy which is where the pink Starbursts idea came from. Amazon sells pink Starbursts by the pound by the way haha.
I asked Laken what color of cake she wanted and her response was “pink cake pops mommy” so that’s what we did! If you have never made cake pops before give yourself a lot of time. This was by far the most challenging food item I have ever had to put together. If the cake to frosting ratio is off the cake pop will fall apart in the chocolate coating. They may not be the prettiest dessert, but they sure tasted good. I still wanted that cake feel with the cake pops so I ended up being two different sizes of floral foam from Hobby Lobby to mimic a tiered cake. I bought pink tool and wrapped it around the floral for until it was covered and then shoved the cake pops inside. It turned out way cuter than I thought it would.
