Laken’s Big Girl Dresser
So a little back story before I get to today’s post… When we first started decorating Laken’s room and getting furniture, we were originally told Laken was a boy (I can write a whole post on that someday). I wanted the room to be woodland theme with lots of stained wood pieces, grey, and navy. When we were told it was a girl my mind went absolutely blank because I was thinking we were going to have to redo her whole room! At that point, I hated everything pink and the room was pretty much done other than adding some picture frames and curtains. If we would have known it was a girl we would have done huge watercolor roses on the walls instead of birch trees, I would’ve had all white furniture and pops of gold. I had no choice but to deal with what I was told and accept that her room was going to be the way it was at the time. Her room has always been my favorite in the house so even though it wasn’t the girl room I dreamed of, I still absolutely loved the way it turned out!
Fast forward to now, I can officially start adding all those girly touches I wanted to add in the first place. We had to put her ‘big girl’ railings on her bed just last night due to her climbing out so I thought what better time than now to start transforming her bedroom into the little girl room I always hoped she’d have! There will be a whole post coming soon over all the details in Laken’s room. I’m waiting on a few pieces to come in then I’ll get it up for you all 😉
This whole little area of hers is my new favorite. Her room in general is my absolute favorite room in the house. It’s just so pretty!!! This dresser is the River Layne 3 Drawer & 1 Door Dresser from Target. It is $199.99 which is a little pricey but it was so worth it and considering most of the little extras in her room our from T.J.Maxx or HomeGoods. I feel okay putting a little more into the big pieces!
The first thought I had was (and probably some questions I’ll probably get)…is it sturdy?! YES! It is so sturdy! Laken is not very gentle with draws so her aggressively pulling on them and slamming the door do absolutely no harm to this sturdy thing! The drawers themselves are surprisingly pretty deep. I got the $3 white plastic baskets from Target for storage and they fit perfectly with quite a bit of room left for other things. I will say it took me a few hours to put it together. I totally recommend getting the hubby to take over this project or invite the girls over and have a little wine 😉
The cabinet is crazy spacious! I am all about storage when it comes to her room and this cabinet being able to hold so much is a win for me. We currently have all her diapers and wipes in it.
