Holiday Party dresses | gifting myself Dysport + my before and after
I think I need to find new friends because I have yet to get an invite to any holiday party to dress up for. I’m going to go ahead and say next year I’ll throw my own so I can dress up haha. Today’s post is all bout holiday dresses and a little update on my Dysport. Yes, these two have NOTHING to do with each other, but the holidays are a perfect time to ask for gift cards or to treat yourself to something new. First, let’s talk about the clothing.
For me, personally, I am a very muted person when it comes to the fancy outfits. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for sequins and glitter, but I get sucked into all the deep reds and forest greens every year. The deep reds especially make me feel super fancy. I’m forcing myself to buy a dress this year that has some short of shimmer to it so I can finally have a piece in my closet that sparkles.
Here are some awesome dress options that have caught my eye. I can’t link my dress because it’s from Vici but you can find it here. I’m wearing a medium in it but definitely could’ve gone down to a small.
The gift of Dysport/Botox
Thank you to Aestheticare of Lawrence for gifting me my Dysport and for being my happy place for self care. I cannot recommend Aestheticare of Lawrence enough to you all! I get a facial every 6-8 weeks and let me tell you…I count down the days until my next one. I highly recommend checking them out and if you aren’t sure of what you want, schedule a consultation. I was left speechless from my consultation because I couldn’t believe everything I learned about my skin!
I want to right away put a huuuuge disclaimer here. I am not suggesting you get botox. I’m not saying it’s necessary, or even trying to force you to get it. I’m talking about it and showing my results because this can be a costly treatment and I love being able to be transparent with you all! I’m not a medical professional and I can’t tell you everything there is to know about getting Botox or Dysport and I recommend you speak to your medical provider with all the questions beforehand.
I’m sharing my experience with you all because it’s a treatment that I enjoy. I love how smooth my skin is after and how confident I feel and the holidays are a really good time to spoil yourself and trying something new! I’m an open book about this stuff and love sharing my results and opinion with you all and I get such awesome feedback when I do.
A little over a week ago I got Dypsort! I have had it once before this and that was months before finding out I was pregnant with Chloe. I personally get Dysport because I subconsciously raise both eyebrows while driving and while I’m applying lash extensions at work! I don’t notice and a lot and my lines have gotten fairly deep. Before getting Dysport I would talk to people about it and they would say that I was crazy and too young(23 at that time). Well…listen up. I am a firm believer that if YOU don’t like something about yourself that you can change it. I will preach this forever and I am so dang happy with my results.
For those of you that are younger, Dysport/Botox can be used as a preventative and not for correcting (again, please talk your medical provider beforehand). My first round of Dysport was to fix what I had for sure, but it was also to prevent my lines from getting deeper. For those of you that are older, theres no reason to be afraid and to think that Dysport/Botox will make you look all the people you see on botched! Below are the pictures I’ve taken over the course of 5 days.
I did my absolute best to get the same light and angles. The last one looks super different because of my self tanner.
To see my the video of me getting Dysport and watching how she chose where to put it, check it out here!
I ended up getting Dysport in my forehead and between my eyebrows. I can’t tell you how much this cost because I truly don’t know. Aestheticare Medspa here in Lawrence gifted this service to me. Now for the Q&A’s!
Are there side effects? – Like anything else that’s being injected, there is a possibility of side effects. However, I feel it is not my place to talk or share all that could happen. I will share that headaches are common after your first time and I did have them the first day but after that I was fine. For a full list of side effects and ingredients you can reach out to any medical spa or dermatologist’s office to ask for pamphlets or you can book a consultation.
Does it hurt? – I have a fairly high pain tolerance and it didn’t phase me. The only part I could really feel was when we got closer to my hairline. The feeling wasn’t a hurt but just a hot feeling.
How much does this cost? – So the best way to figure this out is to actually go in and have a consultation. You can talk about your options and what would work best for you. Depending on where the services are offered depends on the price. Dysport roughly ranges from $10-13 per unit and Botox ranges from $11-15 per unit. Don’t quote me on this haha.
How many units did you use? – I’m still learning about this so hear me out. Roughly, each dot on my forehead(as seen in the video linked above) is a unit. The space between my brows was roughly 20 units. That muscle is much bigger than the muscles on my forehead.
Can you still feel your forehead? – Yes!
Did you have any side effects? – This time around I did not. I say this time around because the first time I got a fairly bad headache – which is normal.
How does this work? – When injected, both Dysport and Botox address the fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing the muscle tissue to the point of prevents the muscle from contracting. The contracting muscle is what forms those line.
What is Dysport and what is Botox? – Basically the same thing. It was recommended that I get Dysport because my wanting it was for prevention and my lines weren’t terribly bad.
Can you feel the needle? – It honestly feels like a little prick. I hardly noticed it
Do you have to be careful what you do after getting it? – yes..ish. Mainly only for a few hours after but I like to extend it to a full 24 so I can be lazy haha. “Sorry! Can’t do the dishes because I just got Dysport.”
Can you still move your eyebrows? – I sure can.
Thank you to Aestheticare of Lawrence for working with me and gifting me my Dysport. Also, thank you to all of you that are so curious and want to know more….and for allowing me to be able to share so much without getting judged. You all rock!
