getting organized
Nesting sure brings out the best and worst in people lol. In my case, our cabinets, closets, and drawers have never looked so good! However, I have gone so basket crazy that Kyler has now banned baskets from his part of the basement and I seriously can’t help but laugh at it. I am on a roll on getting everything to have its own home and I refuse to stop until I’m satisfied with the whole house. On top of all this, I’m using the Marie Kondo method and feel so good getting rid of so much!!!! I’ve broken things down a little into categories on what I think has helped most and also have photos at the end from our home showing how we use them!
Happy organizing babes!!!! 🙂
closets and dresser drawers:
The first item are these canvas bins(1) and I love them. I use them in our closets because they have a lid and I feel a little safer being able to put seasonal items in them and not worry about little critters crawling in and making a home. I usually buy the medium size and will wait for them to go on sale to save quite a bit of money! They come in so many sizes, colors, and a little spot for labels! I have these storage bins(2) in Kyler’s and Laken’s closet and they are used for the more every day items. These bins are 6 for $16.87 making them a little over $4 each which is hard to beat. I don’t have these clear front storage bins(3) but am now considering getting them for seasonal storage just seeing the pictures.
In our dresser drawers I use the Marie Kondo folding method to keep things organized. I don’t use a whole lot of organization systems in our dresser but I do for the girl’s dressers! These cloth bins(4) are an absolute favorite of mine. I’ve actually purchased 3 sets of them and whatever I don’t use stores away so nicely. I also use these(5) in the drawers that I don’t use the cloth bins in.
bathroom and linens:
Starting off with organizing linens I like to maximize my space with baskets! If I can get enough baskets to cover the entire area I know I’m not wasting any space. From there it’s making sure everything has its own home and stays that way! I really like to use different sized baskets and these (1) are very similar to the ones I have. I always recommend to get baskets that have straight up and down sides like these(2). Anything with an angle wastes even the tiniest of spaces. For our emergency kit we use a clear container super similar to this(3) and we keep all of our band-aids organized by size to make it easier.
For our bathroom I like to use up all the drawer space with clear organizers. I got mine years ago but this(1) is one that is extremely similar and is short enough in height to fit in almost all drawers! A little tip….always measure your drawers before searching. I promise it will save you from disappointment. Apothecary jars look beautiful on the counter and double as storage for every day items. These(2) are the basic ones that I found on amazon and then these are what I use from World Market because I love the extra texture to it. Most of these jars come in different sizes and depending on what all you consider your every day items you can store cotton balls, q-tips, nailpolish, hair ties, bobby pins, and whatever else you could think of! These jars are both pleasing to the eye and keep areas organized, clean, and serve a purpose. For under cabinet storage these(3) are my favorite and are also currently 25% off!!! It helps to separate products and still have everything accessible.
beauty and accessories:
This category is a favorite of mine because beauty items have a way of looking so stinking cute all organized! First up is this shadow palette organizer(1) that’s only $8.99. Lipsticks are awesome to store in one of these(2) or my personal favorite, this one(3) if you have a lot of lipstick like me! This little organizer(4) helps to keep compacts in order and could also be used for for other makeup goodies. Makeup brush storage is a favorite of mine and aside from getting cute jars to hold all the brushes, this holder(5) is super cute and keeps them all separated.
Jewelry is another favorite of mine mainly because depending on how everything is displayed it gives a total boutique feel and I love that feel knowing it’s all mine haha. First off are these(1) shoes bins that I actually use for storing sunglasses! These keep tiny Laken fingers away from the lens and they’re $6.99. I use these same shoe bins, the $9.99 ones, and use them for storing my belts. If you really want a boutique feel, this(2) sunglass holder is PERFECT! It holds up to 5 pairs and will keep them scratch free! For jewelry I love storing everything of mine in either a cloth lined container or a closed off container to keep dust away. These stackable cloth containers(3) seriously hold so much and you can get all 5 containers for under $25. I can promise you that’s one heck of a steal because these are usually that pricer per container. If you’re more of a necklace person, this rack(4) is awesome. I love the different layers it has to make sure nothing touches the base. This(5) is a great option for storage for when you need to travel with jewelry.
kitchen:
Why is food organized so satisfying?! I’ve said that every single one of these categories to organize is my favorite but lets be real…food is by far the best to organize. My absolute favorite containers ever are these OXO Good Grip Containers (1). They are the priciest of all the containers I have found but I have purchased the dupes and can’t say I’m impressed. The ultimate test is putting brown sugar in them and seeing if it dries out. Amazon, sells the bundle that occasionally will go on sale but the best place I have found to buy these containers are from Homegoods or TjMaxx. This lazy susan(2) is also a must if you’re dividing items up. I don’t have one in our kitchen because we don’t have space but when I helped my mom organize her pantry I made her get them for her baking/cooking items and she is obsessed with it. If you want to get real extra, these spice jars(3) are perfect and they also work organizing for sprinkles! This tea bag organizer(4) is super similar to the one I have and really helps if you lack space for the individual boxes.
The fridge is the next best area to organize and I never thought I would be that person to buy containers for our fridge but I have saved more money on food and have eaten at home more being able to see everything there. The biggest shock was getting this egg organizer(1) that holds 18 eggs. We go through eggs twice as fast now! We also have these smaller bins(2) and have them filled with Laken’s snacks and have them stored at her level so she can grab and go! We keep our bread in the fridge so it’ll last longer and we use a larger one of these to hold it all. We have two of these(4) in our fridge to help separate fruit and veggies. Which leads to the question of “what do you use those bottom drawers for?!” We use them for back ups and for if we randomly buy fridge food that doesn’t expire right away.
extras:
I don’t have much to share here other than some random finds that help us keep everything together in our lives. While deep cleaning last year we found things we had a lot of and wanted to find the best way to keep it all together. We realized we had a ton of DVDs but were running out of space to store them so we purchased this(1) and it takes up barely any space and holds 400 disks! In our cars we keep these bins(2) in the trunk! Each bin holds all of our car accessories and we never worry about not knowing where something is. These cord organizers(3) have helped us tremendously when keeping our cords together. We also keep all of our cords in a drawer so we never misplace one! In our garage we have this exact storage system(4) and it holds so much weight and keeps everything of the floor.
