Before we get into this, let’s set one thing straight.. I can not cook to save my life. I’m that person that has caught taco shells on fire. I’m that person that will follow step by step instructions on a Pillsbury brownie mix, cook it for 10 minutes longer than asked, & STILL figure out a way for them to be raw. It’s an incredible talent that I’ve just accepted. Sorry hubby. Getting to the point, I can’t do anything right in the kitchen to save my life, but I can make a mean chocolate chip cookie. And it’s from scratch, too!! This is the only thing I ever get asked to make when it comes to potlucks & the only thing Kyler ever wants me to make. I’m so not complaining because cookies, but I usually end up eating half the dough before it makes its way in to the oven. Someone has to make sure every other dough ball I put on the baking sheet tastes okay!
So these cookies are extremely moist & super soft. They also keep their shape & softness when sitting out on the counter which is a huge deal to me because dried up crumbly cookies aren’t my thing. I normally store my all cookies in the freezer (thanks for that tip mom) because it traps the moisture in & frozen cookies taste amazing! Now enough of me blabbing about cookies! Let’s get to it!
What you’ll need:
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp backing soda
- 1 tsp salt ( I usually add 1 1/2 tsp salt)
- 1 cup butter flavored crisp (Crisco)
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 2 tsp honey
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
Instructions:
Oven temp: 350deg
Cooking time: 9 minutes in oven, 1 minute sitting out on pan
Makes approx: 2 1/2 dozen cookies
- Measure out the flour, baking soda, & salt in a bowl & move it to the side.
- In a large mixing bowl add the sugar, brown sugar, & butter flavored crsip(Crisco) & mix together well.
- In the same bowl add the eggs, vanilla, & honey & mix together.
- Pour half of the dry mixture into the mixing bowl, mix, then add the second half. The dough should come out sticky but still workable. If you feel like it’s to sticy you can always add a little more flour to the mix.
- Add the chocolate chips & mix.
- Place on sheet, bake, & ENJOY!!
* You can always substitute the regular chocolate chips with Andis peppermint chips to make mint chocolate chip cookies & adding 1 tsp of pepermint extract to the mix.
Do you like doing anything differently with your chocolate chip cookies? I’d love to hear your favorites!
