All the IGK Hair love
Thank you to IGK and Beauty Brands for gifting me these products!
No doubt that the pretty packaging draws you in, but the real beauty behind IGK products is how they work. I consider myself a pretty established stylist when it comes to the basics of products, yennow? However, I have had to read the instructions on these products over and over again so I fully understood what they’re intended to do! Don’t let me saying this scare you, because the products themselves are basic. They do what they say they’ll do and for that to happen you must be thorough with application!
IGK products are professional salon brand hair products. They have one heck of a product styling line, and some of the absolute coolest products that I guarantee you have never seen. I’m not new to the IGK line. I’ve used their Invisible Dry Shampoo ( I looove) and their Pay Day Shampoo/Conditioner. I’ve very fortunate to work with Beauty Brands as an influencer to introduce IGK to you all. I promise you’ll love them just as much as I do.
What’s the price point?
IGK products are retailing for that middle price range. Their products range from $25-$35. Only one product is closer to the $40 and that’s a product that is purely magical so I see why.
DRY SHAMPOO
I have had the most fun with the dry shampoo. All three of them perform differently and are very customized depending on your day-to-day. A top stylist pick(from hearing my co-workers RAVE) is the Jet Lag Invisible dry shampoo. This is a very gentle cleansing dry shampoo that leave zero residue behind. If you’re a basic guy or gal and just need a refresh, this is for you. Next we have the First Class Charcoal Detox dry shampoo. This pick as well gives off a clean and refreshed look but gives a kick of body to the hair! There’s a slight grit to allow the volume and just a couple shakes of the hair throughout the day really reactivates that lift. Next We have the Direct Flight Multi-Tasking Matcha dry shampoo and this is my personal fav. I don’t wear my hair the same day-to-day and I notice the refresh in my hair all throughout the day into the next with my styles. This one also adds a bit of texture to the hair which is everything to me!
TONING DROPS
Let me introduce you to this little magic bottle and quite frankly a game changer for us purple shampoo users! Mixed Feelings is all about toning out that brass without you having to feel you need to switch up your routine every couple washes. From a stylists standpoint and an average income individual I get how pricy all these products can be…and this is absolutely a game changer.
I have loved using this because i’m able to customize my level of tone with each pigmented drop in my every-day-normal-go-to-shampoo. My preference is 3 drops in my shampoo every other wash.
SPRAY IN MIRACLE PRODUCTS
These two products are not at all the same. They deserve their own spotlight because wow.
Starting off with Thirsty Girl because I have just never used a product even remotely similar to it! This coconut milk leave-in conditioner isn’t like a basic spray. It’s in an aerosol and does require a little more hands on during application but the results are well worth it. I don’t typically blow dry start to finish and decided to try Thirsty Girl. I sectioned the hair, spray the leave-in conditioner and comb it through and blow dried as normal. The amount of ‘did you do something different with your hair?’ comments I got during the day was shocking. The humidity right now is no joke and the 24-hour frizz control is a nice bonus.
Antisocial is next and this is an overnight bond-building dry hair mask. This isn’t the first of it’s kind I have used……but another brand that rhymes with giving roof has a very similar product and I like this one more. Swear! Essentially, this is a spray in hair mask that you put in the night before and you sleep on it! Since it is dry to the touch I actually sprayed it on day 3 night hair, woke up on day 4, and wore it all throughout the day in a clip and not a soul would have known. I washed my hair that night and wowwww it was wonderful! If I could bottle up this smell and wear it as a perfume I would.
NOURISHING SERUMS & OILS
Three serums/oil used three very different ways and if you’re like me you cocktail them all together because they smell really nice haha. Let’s start with the only oil, Best Life. This guy can be applied to both wet or dry hair and is recommend mid-shaft to ends. For a sleek style this is fantastic for that second day+ hair without leaving any sorts of residue behind.
Hair serums have so many different uses. I love to cocktail my serums in with my styling creams, I finish the hair with serums to control those baby hairs, and I use serums for that healthy shine. I want to start with Cry Baby because it’s a 72-hour frizz control smoothing serum and goes on dry hair. The serum is very light and very silky smooth. There isn’t an immediate product glob with that first touch and I swear the more the serum melts from the heat of my hand the more pliable it is. I’ve used this product more on my front fringe pieces and prior to adding a braid.
Up next is the Instant Repair Serum that is to be applied more generously throughout. I also noticed it performs differently with paired with the Pay Day shampoo/conditioner combo which is also par of the Instant Repair line. I have used it both ways and still see a difference regardless.
LEAVE-IN HEAT STYLING AIDS
I’m 2/3 in this category and it’s purely because I’m not a great candidate for the Big time Volume and Thickening Mousse. I have too much hair and I’m not really sure what I thought I would get out of it but it wasn’t much. My hair wanted to give body and lift but because I have so much of it, it didn’t really know what to do. I can’t wait to bring this product into the salon and use it on my clients that will benefit from it. The ideal person for Big Time is someone with short to medium hair in length and has hair a little bit on the fine/thin side. The application of this would be two inches out from the scalp to the mid shaft. When used with a round brush I noticed that it has a slight memory hold so someone with a short bob or a pixi may benefit better.
Good Behavior is a blowout balm that contains spirulina protein and is just pure heaven on the hair. This blowout balm is recommended for medium-thick hair. Massage this baby real good from root to ends and I promise you won’t be disappointed! Beach Club would be my heat protection of choice since it protects up to 450deg. This one in particular is very light in weight and glides right onto damp hair.
LEAVE-IN NON HEAT REQUIRED STYLING AIDS
I want to start with the Beach Club Volumizing Texture spray because it really probably deserves a category on its own compared to the other two. I firmly believe everyone needs a heat protectant, a good oil, a dry shampoo, and a texture spray in their cabinet. If you happen to choose the Beach Club one I think you’re doing wondering for yourself. This texture spray freaking rocks. It’s become pretty well known on social media within the last couple weeks and has earned a permanent spot in my product closet. The spray itself and the smell are very light. The extra body it gives in curls or just styled hair is very beautiful and you don’t have to worry about your hair looking dull.
Rich Kid is for the curls/waves/kinks. It’s an air-dry styler that’s lightweight and really helps to control that natural texture. Mistress is a Hydrating Hair Balm for that more coarse hair. It can also be used as a air-dry styler. I did mess around with both of these and really loved how they complimented the natural waves in my hair.
IN SHOWER MIRACLE PRODUCTS
So, here’s the magic in IGK. Get the Expensive Amla Oil Hi-shine Topcoat and thank me later. My goodness my hair looked every bit of expensive and now I know why it’s called Expensive! Despite the name, the price is very reasonable haha. This hi-shine topcoat is what I would compare a clear gloss treatment to in the salon. Expect you do this is the comfort of your own home and get equally amazing results. You will use this product in the shower in place of your conditioner on the mid-shaft to ends and let it sit for 1-3 minutes. Rinse it out and go about it as normal and you won’t be let down. Promise!
Offline 3-minute Hydration Hair Mask is a wonderful hair mask. Personally, I don’t use hair masks as frequent as others so I don’t see a huge wow factor in the feel after. The one thing that really set it apart from the other hair masks I’ve used was the shine. The shine is unreal. I curled my hair after using this and I kept staring at myself in the mirror because of the shine!
SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER
I don’t have much to cover on these shampoo and conditioner because they’re pretty self explanatory and shampoo is a major preference. So let me give you a smell breakdown and who I think they’d be perfect for.
Up first we have Legendary Dream Hair Shampoo and Conditioner. The smell is 10/10 and would be great for any hair type. The conditioner contains shea butter which is a personal fav and leaves the hair so darn soft. Extra Love is all about volume and thickening. The smell is 8/10 and gives off more of a fresh smell. Lastly we have the Pay Day Instant Repair which is a 12/10 in smell. Ugh its amazing. This shampoo is one that I have previously used and noticed such a change when my hair was super damaged.
