5 drug store products I’ve been using
Happy Monday! This is an exciting week for me and if you want to stay in the loop be sure to follow me on Instagram! I’ll be back to my normal daily stories and sharing my ten daily items. We have been potty training the last week and it is EXHAUSTING! I never would have thought it would take that much out of me, but I’m happy to say that we’re doing good and have only had two accidents. Now for today’s post!
Over the last few months I’ve been trying out drugstore products that are new to me. I can honestly say I’m not much of a drugstore makeup buyer because I get extremely overwhelmed (silly, right) searching for products. I have avoided the makeup aisle at Target for years because of it but when you see so many people talk about a product for a long period of time, you get super interested. So here we are and I can’t wait to share with you all what I’ve been trying!
This first item is the Airspun Loose Face Powder, and one I had been wanting to try for years but I could never find it at the store. Right now it’s on sale for $5.97 on Amazon and it is verified to be sold on there. Let me be real honest with you on this one. For a loose face powder intended to set makeup it does just that and it is an amazing face powder, especially for the price. But absolutely nobody tells you that it smells like ten very floral perfumes broke in your Grandma’s bathroom. OH MY GOSH. This stuff smells AWFUL. When I shared how badly it smelled so many of you messaged me saying you get used to it over time. I can’t say I’m getting any more used to it but I certainly can tolerate it better. Why doesn’t anyone talk about the smell??? Haha.
Next is the Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer. I have a really hard time finding a bronzer that doesn’t pull orange or look muddy on me. So far I’ve only found one that works for me and it’s $68 compared to this one which is around $12 and I truly love it! I don’t think I have ever used a bronzer that is this smooth and blends so nicely. I have applied it very heavy handed and was still able to blend it out. I also love it for contouring. I don’t normally share much about the smell of makeup products, aside from the one above lol, but this honestly smells like a beach vacation and I look forward to putting it on my face every day.
The Neutrogena Hydro Boost hydrating lip shine is actually one I picked up a long time ago and I think I’ve shared it before but it’s so good! I kept seeing makeup gurus talk about this product because it’s a lip gloss and it’s hydrating. Normally those two don’t go together. It’s $8.99 and is available at Target in thirteen different shades. Be proud of me here because I spent a good ten minutes staring at all the shades, didn’t get overwhelmed, and went home with ‘Berry Brown‘. All the colors give just a slight tint and to me would all classify as shades of nudes. I think they would compliment any skin tone.
This next one is the NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray and I’m not all that impressed. Maybe it’s because I love my MAC Fix+ so much that I didn’t want to like this but I felt like it did nothing for me. It’a $8.50 at Ulta and has a 4.5 star rating with amazing reviews which is why I wanted to try it so bad. I’ve used quite a few setting sprays and tell myself that if it doesn’t give a matte finish I at least want it to set my makeup and this did neither for me. I love the price point, just not so much the product.
Lastly is the Jergens Natural Glow Instant Sun self tanner. I am shocked I convinced myself to get this because the last time I experimented with drug store self tanners was when I was in seventh grade. I thought I as so cool showing off my self tanned legs….they were orange. I was straight up orange. Since then I vowed to never really use drug store self tanners again haha. I have plenty of self tanners on hand to where I didn’t need to get this but it was under $15 and it looked promising. I went with the ‘light bronze‘ and look very sun kissed. It applies very smooth and doesn’t smell. I did the transfer test and wore it overnight on our white sheets and had zero transfer. It dries in 60 seconds and is available on Prime. What more is there to love?! Honestly, this is a really good self tanner and I was shocked. I highly recommend this over any high end self tanner if you’re starting out and are unsure of what to get.
